READY! Readers Program Takes Off at Tulane!

PROGRAM ANNOUNCEMENT

The first books have been delivered to pediatric clinic at Tulane Lakeside!

The READY! Readers is a part of our Literacy as Preventive Medicine Campaign. The goals of the program are listed below.

  • Book distribution & reading promotion at Well Child Pediatric visits

  • Medical graduate/resident physician education on the importance of literacy

  • Partnerships to expand access to culturally-relevant reading materials in hospitals & clinical settings

โด• *This program aims to increase the likelihood of caregivers reading with their children regularly by standardizing reading promotion as an aspect of pediatric Well-Child clinic visits and increasing access/exposure to culturally relevant reading material, with the goal of encouraging life-long healthy reading habits and, ultimately, improving literacy outcomes amongst at-risk youth.
